In 2011 Janel Hollister’s Refuge of Hope, Faith, and Life became alive and an inspiration. Janel Hollister and the Hernandez Family helped cancer patient Tommy Skaggs,  a cowboy suffering from liver cancer,  take his last ride on a horse.  This is something Tommy wished he could do just one last time and his wish came true on a wonderful horse named Jazzy.

Shortly after that ride Jazzy was diagnosed with cancer of the eye, and the eye had to be removed.  Now a cancer survivor himself,  Jazzy will continue to be used by the foundation as an inspiration, to give hope to others fighting their battle with cancer.

Janel Hollister’s Refuge of Hope, Faith, and Life is a Non-Profit Foundation 501(C)(3). This is a dedicated ministry for sharing JESUS  CHRIST with cancer patients that may not know him as their PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR. 

It will also be utilizing the Equine to take them away from their disease, burdens, and worries. Riding, touching, brushing, and just being in the presense of one of God’s most beautiful creations will give peace, comfort, and encouragement during a very challenging and difficult time in their lives.

Janel wanted patients to have a refuge, a place to go to get away from their disease, chemo treatments, hospitals, etc… and enjoy nature and the tranquility of a horse to give them HOPE  and FAITH that they can survive their battle with cancer if not here on earth but in Heaven.

Janel had not excepted Christ until the very end of her journey, and is now looking down from Heaven cancer free!!  She would also want you to experience her journey to Heaven, a LIFE Everlasting.
